Registration instructions and giveaways described in it belonged to that event; this page does not offer current registration.
The project timeline in the announcement
- 2020: core prototype development drew on sandbox/container approaches.
- 2022: Linglong appeared with the deepin V23 preview and reached initial usability. The announcement also recorded OpenAtom TOC review and incubation-preparation status that year.
- May 2024: the announcement recorded signing the donation agreement with the OpenAtom foundation and entering incubation.
- 13 July 2024: the Shanghai meetup was to discuss the project’s growth, product progress, core techniques and future direction.
What participants were invited to explore
The event promised an explanation of layered and isolated application environments, discussion of Linux compatibility and security challenges, updates from the project and face-to-face questions with speakers. Customized deepin community merchandise was part of the original invitation; this is not a claim that it remains available.
Talk one: a compatible software-distribution approach
Speaker: Deng Bo (邓博), a senior research-and-development engineer on the Linglong team, as identified in the announcement.
The session, titled “Secure and efficient: a new Linglong approach to compatible software distribution,” was to trace the project from its beginnings, explain architecture and application packaging, and discuss future direction. The speaker framed the work as a continuing open-source development journey.
Talk two: packaging experience and improvement proposals
Speaker: System233, identified as a deepin community user and experienced Linglong contributor.
The speaker’s introduction said he had completed more than 200 application packages during the recent community packaging activity. That is a statement in the original introduction, not a result independently verified by this edition. The talk was to share the path from initial learning to practical packaging, encountered problems, working methods and corresponding solutions.
It also proposed improvements to ll-cli, the ll-pica converter and ll-builder, based on the speaker’s experience, with the aim of improving tooling and usability.
Lightning talks and participation
The invitation included lightning talks for companies and individual developers to share deepin/Linglong experiments, ideas and practices. Each main speaker was to have a question-and-answer segment.
For the 2024 event, participants could use the original registration link or QR image; staff were to contact accepted registrants. A separate assistant/WeChat route used the reply “Meetup 上海” for the event group. Those instructions are retained as an account of the announced process, not a new sign-up route.
A useful reading route now
To study the themes without confusing dates, read the current architecture overview, then the first-application build procedure and the versioned ll-pica reference. Prepare one reproducible application example and distinguish a tooling proposal from an implemented feature. The invitation itself is not a transcript, a recording or evidence of what each attendee completed.
